Elektrofotografij

Elektrofotografij is a photographic process that utilizes electric charges to produce images on paper or other surfaces. The process was first invented by Christian Friedrich Schönbein in 1849, a German-Swiss chemist, who discovered that silver chloride could be electrochemically reduced to form an image on a surface.

In elektrofotografij, a plate coated with silver chloride is first insulated with a layer of wax or varnish. The plate is then exposed to light, which breaks down the silver chloride, allowing electrons to be drawn out of the plate in areas exposed to light. A negatively charged electrode, called the receptor, is then brought in contact with the plate, attracting the electrons that have been drawn out of the plate and leaving behind areas of exposed silver chloride.

The plate is then placed in a developer solution, which causes the silver chloride in the unexposed areas to be reduced, leaving behind a light image. The plate can then be transferred to a light-sensitive paper, where the image is duplicated through a process of electrostatic attraction.

Elektrofotografij was an important early technique in the development of photographic processes, and was used for many years in various forms. However, it was eventually replaced by more modern techniques, such as the development of dry plate photography and later, the invention of roll film. Despite this, elektrofotografij remains an important milestone in the history of photography.
