Eisenhowers

Eisenhower is a surname of German origin, meaning "iron worker" or "blacksmith." The most prominent family bearing this name is descended from Johann Georg Eisenhower, who emigrated from the Palatinate region of Germany to Pennsylvania in the early 18th century. This family produced several notable individuals in American history.

The most famous Eisenhower was Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890–1969), the 34th President of the United States. A five-star general in the United States Army, he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War II. His presidency, from 1953 to 1961, was marked by economic prosperity, the Interstate Highway System, and the beginning of the space race.

Other members of the Eisenhower family have also achieved recognition. Milton S. Eisenhower (1897–1985), Dwight's younger brother, was a prominent educator and administrator, serving as president of several universities. His son, John S.
