Edogawa

Edogawa (江戸川) is a Japanese term meaning "Edo River." It is used to refer to a river, a Tokyo ward, and as the adopted pseudonym of a prominent Japanese mystery writer.

Edo River: The Edo River, also read as Edogawa, is a river in the Kantō region of Japan, running through Tokyo and Chiba Prefectures. It is part of the river system draining toward Tokyo Bay. The river's name has given rise to various place-names in Tokyo, including Edogawa Ward.

Edogawa Ward: Edogawa Ward (Edogawa-ku) is one of Tokyo's 23 special wards, located in eastern Tokyo and named after the Edo River. It combines residential neighborhoods with parks and riverfront areas and is served by several rail lines.

Edogawa Ranpo: The pen name of Tarō Hirai (1894–1965), a foundational figure in Japanese mystery fiction. He adopted "Edogawa Ranpo" in homage to Edgar Allan Poe. The Edogawa Ranpo Award, established in 1955 by Mystery Writers of Japan, recognizes outstanding work in mystery writing.
