Edenists

Edenists, also known as Edenites, are a religious group that emerged in the late 19th century, primarily in the United States. They are characterized by their belief in a literal interpretation of the Book of Eden, a text that they consider to be the first book of the Bible. Edenists reject the traditional Christian view of the Garden of Eden and the Fall of Man, instead interpreting the text as a historical account of a real place and real people.

The group was founded by John Thomas, who claimed to have discovered the lost Book of Eden in 1875. Thomas believed that the book contained the true history of humanity, including the existence of a pre-Flood civilization and the presence of a divine being named Elohim. Edenists believe that Elohim is a distinct entity from the God of the Bible, and that the two are often confused due to the similarities in their names.

Edenists are known for their unique interpretations of biblical texts and their rejection of traditional Christian doctrines. They often face criticism and rejection from mainstream religious communities due to their beliefs. However, they have also gained a following among those who are interested in alternative interpretations of religious texts. The group continues to exist today, with a small but dedicated following.
