Earnhardt

Earnhardt is a surname of German origin that is most widely recognized in American motorsport through the Earnhardt racing family. In the early days of stock car racing, Ralph Earnhardt (1916–1973) established the family’s involvement in NASCAR as a driver and patriarch of the racing lineage.

Dale Earnhardt (1951–2001), known as The Intimidator, became one of the most successful and influential drivers in NASCAR history. He won seven NASCAR Cup Series championships and accumulated a large number of Cup wins, and he died in a crash during the 2001 Daytona 500, an event that helped spur lasting changes in NASCAR safety.
