EUsäädös
EUsäädös is the Finnish term for a European Union regulation. EU regulations are legally binding legislative acts of the European Union. They are directly applicable in all member states without the need for national transposition. This means that once an EU regulation is adopted, it immediately becomes part of the national law of all EU member states. The purpose of regulations is to ensure uniform application of EU law across the Union, promoting a level playing field and facilitating the functioning of the internal market. They cover a wide range of policy areas, including competition, environmental protection, consumer rights, and data protection. The legislative process for an EU regulation involves proposals from the European Commission, and adoption by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, often through the ordinary legislative procedure. After adoption, regulations are published in the Official Journal of the European Union and enter into force on the date specified within them, or twenty days after publication if no date is specified.
