ERmediated
ERmediated refers to biological processes or interactions that are initiated or regulated by the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The endoplasmic reticulum is a network of membranes found throughout the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, involved in protein synthesis, folding, modification, and lipid metabolism. When cells experience stress, such as nutrient deprivation, viral infection, or accumulation of misfolded proteins, the ER can become overloaded. This overload triggers a cellular response known as the unfolded protein response (UPR), which is a key ERmediated pathway. The UPR aims to restore ER homeostasis by increasing the production of chaperones that aid in protein folding, enhancing protein degradation, and reducing the overall protein synthesis load.
Dysregulation of ERmediated processes is implicated in a variety of diseases. For instance, chronic ER stress
