ERVlaitteet, which translates to "ERV devices" or "ERV equipment" in English, refers to energy recovery ventilators. These are mechanical ventilation systems designed to improve indoor air quality while simultaneously recovering energy from the exhaust air. The primary function of an ERV is to exchange heat and humidity between the incoming fresh air and the outgoing stale air. This process helps to pre-condition the incoming air, reducing the load on heating and cooling systems and leading to energy savings.

ERV devices are commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to provide continuous ventilation. They are particularly beneficial in tightly sealed buildings, where natural ventilation is limited, to prevent the buildup of pollutants and moisture. The core component of an ERV is an energy recovery core, which can be made of various materials like aluminum, plastic, or paper.
