ERGmodellen is a theoretical framework in psychology, specifically within the field of motivation. It is an acronym standing for Existence, Relatedness, and Growth. Developed by Clayton Alderfer, ERGmodellen is a modification and expansion of Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

The Existence needs in ERGmodellen correspond to Maslow's physiological and safety needs, focusing on basic survival requirements such as food, water, shelter, and physical security. These are the fundamental requirements for maintaining life.

Relatedness needs align with Maslow's social needs, emphasizing the importance of interpersonal relationships. This category includes the need for love, belonging, friendship, and social connection. It reflects the human desire to be part of a group and to have meaningful interactions with others.

Growth needs are comparable to Maslow's esteem and self-actualization needs. They represent the drive for personal development, creativity, and the realization of one's full potential. This involves engaging in activities that foster learning, skill development, and achievement.

A key difference from Maslow's model is that ERGmodellen suggests these needs are not strictly hierarchical.
