ERCPtähystys
ERCPtähystys, also known as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, is a medical procedure used to diagnose and treat problems in the bile ducts and pancreatic duct. It combines endoscopy with X-ray imaging. During the procedure, a flexible, lighted tube called an endoscope is passed through the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and into the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine. Once the endoscope reaches the opening of the bile and pancreatic ducts, a special contrast dye is injected into these ducts. This dye makes the ducts visible on X-ray images, allowing doctors to identify blockages, stones, narrowing, or other abnormalities.
