EPDMkumista
EPDM-kumi, or EPDM, is a synthetic rubber formed from ethylene, propylene, and a non-conjugated diene monomer. The diene component enables crosslinking, giving EPDM elastomeric properties while maintaining flexibility over a wide temperature range. EPDM is produced by addition polymerization and can be vulcanized using sulfur or peroxide curing, with the choice affecting elasticity, heat aging, and chemical resistance.
EPDM is renowned for excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, UV light, and aging, as well as good
Common applications include roofing membranes, door and window seals, automotive weatherstripping, gaskets, hoses, and electrical insulation
Environmental and disposal considerations include the chemical inertness of EPDM in use, but recycling and end-of-life
