EPAderived
EPAderived refers to a method of estimating the energy consumption of a building or facility based on the energy performance of a similar building or facility that has been measured and verified. This approach is commonly used in the context of energy performance contracting (EPC) and energy performance audits.
The EPAderived method involves the following steps:
1. Identification of a reference building: The first step is to identify a building that is similar
2. Adjustment for differences: The energy consumption of the reference building is then adjusted to account
3. Calculation of the subject building's energy consumption: The adjusted energy consumption of the reference building
The EPAderived method is often used when it is not feasible or cost-effective to measure and verify
The EPAderived method is regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Star program, which provides guidelines
