ENSOkierto is a Finnish term referring to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle. ENSO is a naturally occurring climate pattern that involves fluctuations in sea surface temperatures across the equatorial Pacific Ocean. It has a significant impact on weather patterns worldwide, influencing rainfall, temperature, and atmospheric circulation. The ENSO cycle consists of three phases: El Niño, La Niña, and neutral conditions.

El Niño is characterized by warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific. This phase typically leads to altered weather patterns such as increased rainfall in some regions and drought in others. La Niña, conversely, is marked by cooler-than-average sea surface temperatures in the same area. La Niña often brings opposite weather effects to those observed during El Niño. Neutral conditions occur when sea surface temperatures are close to their long-term average.

The ENSOkierto, or ENSO cycle, operates on irregular timescales, typically occurring every two to seven years.
