Dünots is a fictional plant species originating from the planet Xylos in the fictional "Chronicles of Xylos" series. It is characterized by its bioluminescent properties, emitting a soft, pulsating blue light during the planet's nocturnal cycle. The plant typically grows in dense clusters within the subterranean caverns of Xylos, thriving in the low-light, high-humidity environment. Its leaves are broad and waxy, designed to capture any available ambient moisture.

Scientifically, Dünots are classified as a type of non-vascular flora, relying on spores for reproduction. The bioluminescence is thought to be a symbiotic relationship with a specific type of microorganism that inhabits the plant's tissues. This light is believed to attract certain nocturnal insects, which in turn aid in the dispersal of Dünots spores. While not considered edible by the native Xylosian fauna, some of the planet's sentient species have historically used dried Dünots for illumination and rudimentary medicinal purposes, extracting compounds believed to have calming properties. Its fragility makes it difficult to cultivate outside of its native environment.
