Döhlen

Döhlen is a district of the city of Meerane in the Zwickau district of Saxony, Germany. It is located in the western part of Meerane. The area was historically a village and was incorporated into Meerane in 1920. The name Döhlen is believed to derive from an Old Sorbian word related to "dolina," meaning valley.

The district is primarily residential, with some scattered commercial and industrial facilities. Döhlen is situated near the Götzenberg, a small hill that offers views of the surrounding landscape. The Göltzsch Viaduct, one of the largest brick bridges in the world, is located relatively close to Döhlen, though not directly within the district itself.

Döhlen has a local infrastructure that includes essential services. Public transportation connects it to the city center of Meerane and other surrounding areas. Like many older settlements in Saxony, Döhlen has a history tied to agriculture and later to the industrial development of the region, particularly in textiles and engineering. Today, it functions as a suburban residential area within the larger urban context of Meerane.
