Därav

Därav is a Swedish adverb and conjunction meaning "therefore," "hence," or "from which (it follows)." It indicates a consequence or a source relation between two clauses or propositions. In English it corresponds to words such as "therefore" or "thus."

Etimologically, därav is a compound of där (there) and av (from/of), originally meaning "from there." It has appeared in Swedish since the early modern period and remains common in formal or literary writing, though less frequent in casual speech.

Grammatically, därav typically introduces a result clause or a conclusion drawn from a preceding statement. It is most common in written Swedish, administrative and legal texts, and occasionally in journalism. In everyday speech, more direct forms such as därför or så are usually preferred.
