Dysforista
Dysforista is a term that emerged from online communities, particularly on platforms like Tumblr and Twitter, around the early to mid-2010s. It describes a specific type of internalized homophobia or transphobia experienced by individuals who identify as LGBTQ+. Rather than outward hostility, dysforista refers to a deeply personal struggle where an individual harbors negative feelings or self-dislike directed at their own queer identity. This can manifest as a sense of shame, embarrassment, or even disgust towards their sexual orientation or gender identity.
