Dukovany

Dukovany is a village and municipality in the Třebíč District of the South Moravian Region in the Czech Republic. It is located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Třebíč and 30 kilometers west of Brno. The village is situated in a predominantly agricultural area.

The most notable feature of Dukovany is the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station, which is one of the two nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic. The power station began operation in the early 1980s and is a significant contributor to the country's electricity generation. The presence of the power station has had a considerable impact on the local economy and infrastructure of the surrounding area.

Dukovany itself has a small population and retains a rural character. The municipality includes the village of Dukovany and a smaller settlement called Heřmanice. Historical records indicate the village has existed for centuries, with its origins likely dating back to the Middle Ages. The local church is a prominent building in the village center.
