Dugattyúkkal

Dugattyúkkal, the Hungarian word for pistons, are essential components in many mechanical devices, most notably in internal combustion engines. A piston is a movable disk that slides up and down within a cylinder. Its primary function is to transmit force from the expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft, or in reverse, to transmit force from the crankshaft to compress the gas.

In an internal combustion engine, the explosion of fuel and air mixture inside the cylinder pushes the piston downwards. This linear motion is converted into rotational motion by the connecting rod and crankshaft, which ultimately powers a vehicle or other machinery. Conversely, in a pump or compressor, the crankshaft's rotation drives the piston to move, compressing or expelling a fluid.

Pistons are typically made from durable materials like aluminum alloys or cast iron, chosen for their strength, heat resistance, and low friction properties. They are equipped with piston rings, which are crucial for sealing the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall. These rings prevent combustion gases from escaping into the crankcase and also help to control the flow of oil, preventing it from entering the combustion chamber. The design and material of pistons are carefully engineered to withstand the extreme temperatures and pressures encountered during operation, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
