Driverstroom

Driverstroom is a Dutch term that does not have a universal, field-agnostic definition in technical literature. In many contexts it refers to the electrical current produced by a driver circuit—the component that controls or powers a load. The driver can regulate current or voltage to match the requirements of devices such as LEDs, motors, or sensors. In LED technology, for example, driverstroom is often used to describe the constant-current supplied by an LED driver; maintaining a stable current is essential for predictable brightness and lifetime. In motor control, a motor driver delivers current to windings, and the term may describe the current output that the driver maintains under varying load.

The term may also appear in Dutch-language discussions to distinguish the driver’s output from the control signal it uses. In practice, the precise meaning is defined by context: the power delivered to a device, the current regulation setting, or the drive channel in a larger system.

In non-technical or general writing, “driverstroom” is less common and may be encountered only alongside related phrases such as constante stroom (constant current) or LED-driver. The lack of a single standardized definition means that readers should consult the specific datasheet or standard in use for clarity.

Because Dutch terminology varies by field and manufacturer, many articles adopt the broader interpretation: driverstroom is the current delivered by a driver circuit to the load, and it is a key parameter in power electronics and drive systems.
