Dreamfinder

Dreamfinder is a stage show and attraction located at Epcot, a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It began operation in 1982 and operated until 1996. The show was created by Imagineer Sam McKim, and it was inspired by the concept art of MC Escher.

The Dreamfinder was a interactive dark ride that featured a young character, the Dreamfinder, and a fantastical machine known as the Dreamfinder's Dreamship. In the show, the Dreamfinder's Dreamship could fly, which was seen by many as a magical and wondrous event. The story focused on the goal of the Dreamfinder to find and collect dreams and Fantasia segments, while battling an evil villain named Ooey.

Throughout the course of its run, the attraction itself remained largely the same, but the audio and story elements were revised to simplify the ride's description. Critics have noted that while the show was popular among audiences, it lacked a memorable impact due to a lack of memorable imagery held onto.

In 1991, Dreamfinder underwent a renovation that upgraded the ride's special effects and added a major plot twist. However, by the mid-1990s, the attention and creative focus at Epcot shifted towards new themed areas and attractions, such as Future World. As a result, the Dreamfinder was closed and removed from operations in 1996, when Epcot converted the surrounding area into a sail-in, Seashore Food Court.
