Dolomietkalksteen

Dolomietkalksteen, also known as dolomite limestone, is a sedimentary rock primarily composed of the mineral dolomite. Dolomite has the chemical formula CaMg(CO3)2, meaning it is a calcium magnesium carbonate. This distinguishes it from pure limestone, which is primarily calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Dolomite limestone forms when magnesium replaces some of the calcium in the original calcium carbonate of limestone, a process called dolomitization. This process typically occurs after the initial deposition of the carbonate sediment, often due to the circulation of magnesium-rich fluids through the rock.
