Diszperziókat, in English dispersions, refers to systems where one substance is dispersed evenly throughout another substance. This can involve solid particles in a liquid, liquid droplets in another liquid, or gas bubbles in a liquid or solid. The dispersed substance is called the disperse phase, and the substance in which it is dispersed is called the dispersion medium.

The size of the dispersed particles is a key characteristic that defines different types of dispersions. Colloidal dispersions, for instance, have particle sizes ranging from 1 nanometer to 1 micrometer. In these systems, the dispersed particles remain suspended and do not settle out readily. Examples include milk, fog, and gels.

Emulsions are a type of dispersion where both the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium are liquids. They are often unstable and require emulsifying agents to maintain their homogeneity. Mayonnaise and milk are common examples of emulsions. Foams, on the other hand, are dispersions of a gas in a liquid or solid, characterized by a large volume of gas trapped within the medium, such as shaving cream or whipped cream.

Suspensions are dispersions where solid particles are dispersed in a liquid, but the particles are large enough to settle out over time if left undisturbed. Sand in water is a simple example of a suspension. The stability of dispersions is influenced by factors like particle size, surface charge, and the viscosity of the dispersion medium.
