Distilloinnilla is a term used in Finnish to describe the process of separating, purifying, or concentrating components of a liquid mixture by distillation. The word derives from distillointi (distillation) with the suffix -lla, which marks the means or method, so distilloinnilla can be understood as doing something by distillation.

The basic principle of distilloinnilla is that different components have different volatilities. By heating a liquid, the more volatile components vaporize first; the vapor is then condensed back into a liquid and collected as fractions. The approach can be implemented in several forms, including simple distillation, fractional distillation with a column to improve separation, vacuum distillation to reduce boiling points, steam distillation for temperature-sensitive compounds, and azeotropic distillation to modify or break azeotropes.
