Disimpan

Disimpan is an Indonesian verb form derived from the root simpan, which means to save, keep, or store. In Indonesian grammar, disimpan is the passive or stative form created with the prefix di-. It conveys that the action of saving or storing has been performed on the subject by someone or something else, or that the subject is in a state of being stored or kept. The agent can be indicated with by-phrases introduced by oleh, but the agent is often omitted when it is understood from context.

As a participle or adjective, disimpan can modify nouns, for example in phrases such as dokumen disimpan or data yang disimpan. The form supports common Indonesian aspect markers, including telah, sudah, and sedang, as in data telah disimpan or laporan sedang disimpan. In modern usage, disimpan frequently appears in digital and administrative contexts, such as data disimpan di server or file disimpan secara otomatis.

Usage contexts include personal, organizational, and technical domains. It can describe physical storage, as in buku itu disimpan di lemari, or digital storage, as in data pasien disimpan di database rumah sakit. The meaning can shift slightly from “placed into storage” to “kept securely,” depending on the surrounding words and the chosen aspect.

In Malay as well as Indonesian, the word has a related form and similar passive function. Disimpan remains a common and neutral term in written and formal Indonesian to indicate that something has been saved, stored, or kept.
