Dioptrik

Dioptrik is a branch of optics that deals with the refraction of light through lenses and other transparent media. It focuses on how light rays bend and converge or diverge as they pass from one medium to another with a different refractive index. This bending of light is governed by Snell's Law, which mathematically describes the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction and the refractive indices of the two media.

The principles of dioptrics are fundamental to understanding the operation of various optical instruments. Eyeglasses and contact lenses, for example, are designed based on dioptric principles to correct refractive errors of the eye such as myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness). Lenses, whether convex or concave, are shaped to manipulate light rays to form clear images on the retina.

Beyond vision correction, dioptrics plays a crucial role in the design of microscopes, telescopes, cameras, and projectors. These devices employ systems of lenses to magnify distant objects, capture images, or project them onto screens.
