Diodirektorit

Diodirektorit is a Finnish term that can refer to networks or modules consisting of diodes used to direct current paths in electrical circuits. The term is not part of the standard electronics vocabulary; more common labels are diode array, diode network, rectifier array, or diode logic network.

Diodes provide unidirectional conduction, and when multiple diodes are combined, the network can steer signals, perform rectification, or offer isolated or redundant current paths. Typical configurations include bridge rectifiers (a four-diode arrangement that converts AC to DC), half-wave rectifiers, and diode matrices used for steering or simple logic functions. ORing diode networks allow several sources to feed a single load without backfeeding, while protection networks use diodes to clamp voltage or redirect transients.

Diodirektorit may be built from discrete diodes or integrated into a single package as diode arrays. This affects parasitics, forward voltage drop, reverse leakage, and switching behavior. Most modern devices use silicon diodes; fast or Schottky types are common in high-speed or low-loss designs.

Applications include power supplies, DC converters, telecommunications equipment, and protection circuits, where diode networks provide reliable, passive routing and isolation without active control. The choice of configuration depends on required voltage, current, speed, and thermal considerations.
