Dimetyyli

Dimetyyli is a chemical descriptor used in organic chemistry to denote a dimethyl substituent, i.e., a group consisting of two methyl groups bound to a molecule. The general representation is Me2-, the shorthand for two attached methyl units. Dimetyyli can occur as a substituent on a central atom or as part of a molecule that contains two methyl groups.

In practice, the term appears in the names of many compounds and fragments.
