Dihalogeeniühendite

Dihalogeeniühendid refer to organic compounds that contain two halogen atoms attached to a carbon chain or ring. Halogens are elements from Group 17 of the periodic table, typically including fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), and iodine (I). The presence and type of halogen atoms, as well as their positions within the molecule, significantly influence the chemical and physical properties of these compounds.

Depending on the arrangement of the halogen atoms relative to each other and to the carbon skeleton, dihalogeno compounds can be classified into different types. Vicinal dihalides have halogen atoms on adjacent carbon atoms, while geminal dihalides have both halogen atoms on the same carbon atom.
