Difuusioilmiö

Difuusioilmiö, or diffusion phenomenon, refers to the spontaneous movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. This movement occurs because particles are in constant random motion. Over time, this random motion leads to a net movement of particles down their concentration gradient, until the concentration is uniform throughout the system. This process does not require any external energy input and is driven solely by the kinetic energy of the particles.

Diffusion is a fundamental process observed in many natural phenomena. In biology, it is crucial for the transport of substances across cell membranes, such as the movement of oxygen into cells and carbon dioxide out of cells. In chemistry, diffusion plays a role in mixing solutions and the rate of chemical reactions.
