Diffuusivalo refers to light that has been scattered by particles in the atmosphere or on surfaces, causing it to lose its directivity and spread in many directions. Unlike direct sunlight, which travels in a straight line from its source, diffuse light appears to come from all around. This scattering effect is what makes shadows softer and less sharply defined.

On a cloudy day, the clouds act as a diffuser, scattering sunlight and creating a uniformly lit environment.
