Diffusionseigenschaften describe how substances spread through other substances. This process is driven by the random motion of particles, also known as Brownian motion. In simpler terms, it's the tendency for particles to move from an area where they are concentrated to an area where they are less concentrated, aiming to achieve a uniform distribution. Diffusion is a fundamental process observed in many natural phenomena, including the mixing of gases, the transport of nutrients within cells, and the spread of heat. In materials science, diffusion properties are crucial for understanding processes like doping semiconductors or the degradation of materials over time. The mathematical description of diffusion often involves Fick's laws, which quantify the rate of diffusion based on concentration gradients and diffusion coefficients.
