Diffraktiotapauksia, or diffraction cases, refer to specific scenarios and phenomena observed when waves, such as light or sound, encounter obstacles or pass through openings. These situations highlight the wave-like nature of these phenomena and are crucial for understanding wave behavior.

One common diffraktiotapaus is Fresnel diffraction, which occurs when the source of the wave and the observation point are at finite distances from the diffracting object. This leads to complex interference patterns that change with distance. Another is Fraunhofer diffraction, where the source and observation point are considered infinitely far away, simplifying the analysis and typically resulting in patterns observed on a distant screen.

Other notable diffraktiotapauksia involve diffraction from specific shapes. Diffraction from a single slit produces a characteristic pattern of a bright central maximum flanked by progressively weaker secondary maxima and minima.
