Dictyochophytes

Dictyochophytes are a division of heterokont algae, a group of eukaryotic organisms that includes diatoms and brown algae. They are characterized by their complex life cycles, which often involve alternation of generations, and their unique flagellar apparatus, typically consisting of a tinsel flagellum and a whiplash flagellum.
