Dezimalziffern
Dezimalziffern, often referred to as decimal digits, are the symbols used in the decimal numeral system, which is the most common system for representing numbers. These ten digits are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. The decimal system is a positional numeral system, meaning the value of a digit depends on its position within the number. For example, in the number 123, the digit 1 represents one hundred, the digit 2 represents twenty, and the digit 3 represents three. This system is based on powers of ten. Each position to the left of the decimal point represents a successively higher power of ten (units, tens, hundreds, thousands, and so on), while each position to the right represents successively lower negative powers of ten (tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc.). The introduction of the digit 0 was crucial for the development of a complete and efficient positional system, allowing for the representation of numbers like 101, where the 0 indicates the absence of tens. The decimal system is widely used globally in mathematics, science, engineering, and everyday commerce due to its simplicity and universality.
