Devprayag

Devprayag is a town and municipality in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. It is a sacred town notable as the confluence where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers join to form the River Ganga. This confluence at Devprayag marks the first of the sacred Prayags along the Alaknanda river—together with Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, and Rudraprayag, it is part of the Panch Prayag.

The town sits on the riverbanks and is a site of pilgrimage and tourism. It hosts temples and ghats dedicated to the river and local deities; pilgrims bathe at the confluence and perform rituals. The surrounding area features Himalayan scenery and is a gateway for travelers en route to more distant pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand.
