Desztillálási, or distillation in English, is a separation process that relies on the differences in volatility of components in a liquid mixture. This is achieved by selectively boiling and then condensing the vapor. The process typically involves heating the mixture in a vessel called a still. As the temperature rises, the component with the lowest boiling point will vaporize first. This vapor then rises and is passed through a condenser, which is a piece of equipment designed to cool the vapor back into a liquid. The condensed liquid, called the distillate, is collected separately. The remaining liquid in the still, enriched in the higher boiling point components, is known as the residue.
