Desoxyhemoglobin, also known as deoxyhemoglobin, is a form of hemoglobin that has released its oxygen molecules. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues. When hemoglobin binds with oxygen, it is called oxyhemoglobin. After delivering oxygen to the tissues, hemoglobin reverts to its desoxyhemoglobin state.
