Derdasdem is a term used in theoretical linguistics to denote a hypothetical, highly compact determiner system intended to encode essential grammatical features of a noun. The name derives from a triadic combination of German determiners—der, das, and dem—arranged to symbolize a minimal set of markers that could signal gender, number, and case in an artificial or highly synthetic language. Derdasdem is not observed in natural languages but is used as a thought experiment to explore the limits of information density in determiner systems and to study how learners might infer structure from a small set of cues.
