Dentinre

Dentinre is a term that refers to the reparative dentin that forms in response to stimuli such as cavity preparation, attrition, or caries. This type of dentin is laid down by odontoblasts, the cells responsible for dentin formation. Unlike primary or secondary dentin, reparative dentin is formed by newly differentiated odontoblasts or by existing odontoblasts that have been stimulated to increase their secretory activity.

The structure of reparative dentin is often irregular compared to normal dentin. It may contain fewer tubules, and these tubules can be disorganized or absent in some areas. The presence of reparative dentin is a protective mechanism of the tooth, acting as a barrier to further irritation or injury. The rate of formation and the quality of reparative dentin can vary depending on the nature and severity of the stimulus, as well as the age and overall health of the individual. In cases of slow-progressing caries, for instance, more well-formed reparative dentin may be produced than in situations of rapid trauma. The presence of reparative dentin is often visible in radiographs as a distinct layer beneath the area of injury or decay.
