DataMatrixkoodi is a two-dimensional barcode symbology. It is capable of encoding a large amount of data in a very small space. The code consists of a matrix of square modules, arranged in a square or rectangular pattern. The data is encoded by the presence or absence of these modules. DataMatrixkoodi can encode up to 2,335 alphanumeric characters or 3,116 numeric characters. It supports a wide range of character sets, including ASCII, extended ASCII, and Unicode.

DataMatrixkoodi was developed by International Data Group (IDG) in 1987. It was standardized by the AIM Inc. (Automatic Identification Manufacturers) in 1995. DataMatrixkoodi is widely used in various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and retail. Its primary applications include product identification, inventory management, tracking and tracing, and serialization.

One of the key features of DataMatrixkoodi is its robust error correction capabilities. It employs Reed-Solomon error correction, which allows the code to be read even if a portion of it is damaged or obscured. This makes it suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. DataMatrixkoodi can be printed using various methods, including inkjet, laser, and thermal transfer printing. The size of the code can be adjusted depending on the amount of data to be encoded and the desired resolution. Different encoding modes are available to optimize data storage, such as ASCII, C40, Text, and Base 256.
