Daibken
Daibken is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Katsuhiro Otomo. It was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1987 to 1990, and later collected into 12 tankobon volumes. The story follows the adventures of a young boy named Daibeken, who is a reincarnation of a legendary samurai named Benkei. Daibeken possesses the power of the legendary sword Murasame, which can cut through anything, including the very fabric of reality. The manga explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the struggle between good and evil. Daibken is known for its unique art style, which blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with a more modern and dynamic approach. The series has been praised for its action sequences and its exploration of complex characters. Despite its popularity in Japan, Daibeken has not gained as much international recognition as some of Otomo's other works, such as Akira. The manga's story and characters have been adapted into various media, including an anime series, a live-action film, and a video game.
