DIPnivelistä refers to the distal interphalangeal joint, commonly found in the fingers and toes. These are the joints located closest to the tip of each digit, connecting the distal phalanx to the middle phalanx in the fingers and the distal phalanx to the proximal phalanx in the toes. DIP joints are hinge joints, allowing for flexion and extension, which are crucial for grasping and fine motor control. Unlike the proximal interphalangeal joints (PIP joints) or the metacarpophalangeal/metatarsophalangeal joints (MCP/MTP joints), the DIP joints have a more limited range of motion.
These joints are often affected by conditions such as osteoarthritis, where the cartilage wears down over time,
