DELWP

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is a government department in the Australian state of Victoria. It provides policy development, regulatory services, and program delivery across environment, land, water and planning.

DELWP's responsibilities include protecting biodiversity and ecosystems, administering the state's environmental and planning frameworks, delivering planning decisions and planning schemes, managing water resources and catchments, and supporting climate change adaptation and disaster resilience. It also oversees heritage protection and the management of public lands and coastal areas.

The department was formed in 2014 as part of a government reorganization to consolidate environment, land and planning functions under a single agency.

DELWP is led by a Secretary and operates under several portfolio ministers within the Victorian Government. It works with state agencies, local councils, and the community to implement policies and programs that support sustainable development while protecting natural and cultural assets.

The department plays a central role in Victoria's approach to balancing growth with environmental stewardship, land use planning, and water security.
