DCflödesmodellens, often translated as the "DC flow model," is a theoretical framework used in electrical engineering to analyze direct current (DC) circuits. It simplifies circuit analysis by treating current as a flow of charge carriers. The fundamental principle of the DC flow model is Kirchhoff's circuit laws. Kirchhoff's current law states that the sum of currents entering a node is equal to the sum of currents leaving the node, implying conservation of charge. Kirchhoff's voltage law states that the sum of voltage drops around any closed loop in a circuit is equal to the total voltage supplied by the source in that loop, reflecting conservation of energy.

Within the DC flow model, components like resistors are characterized by their resistance, which dictates the voltage drop across them for a given current, as described by Ohm's law (V = IR). Voltage sources provide a constant potential difference, driving the current flow. The model assumes ideal conditions, such as wires having zero resistance and components behaving predictably. While it is a simplification, the DC flow model is highly effective for understanding and calculating current and voltage distributions in basic DC circuits, forming the foundation for more complex circuit analysis techniques. It is particularly useful for steady-state DC analysis where time-varying effects are not a concern.
