DALIohjausyksikkö, often referred to as a DALI control unit or DALI driver, is a key component in the DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) lighting control system. DALI is a standardized protocol designed for digital control of lighting fixtures. The DALI ohjausyksikkö acts as the interface between the DALI bus and the actual lighting devices, such as LED drivers or ballasts.

Its primary function is to translate the digital commands received from a DALI controller (such as a central control system or wall-mounted DALI push-button) into analog or pulse-width modulation (PWM) signals that the luminaire can understand. Each DALI ohjausyksikkö is assigned a unique address on the DALI bus, allowing for individual control of each connected luminaire. This addressability enables precise management of brightness levels, on/off switching, and in some advanced systems, color temperature adjustments.

The ohjausyksikkö also reports back the status of the luminaire, such as its current brightness level or operational faults, to the DALI controller. This two-way communication is a fundamental aspect of the DALI system, facilitating energy efficiency and advanced lighting scenarios. Installation of a DALI ohjausyksikkö typically involves connecting it to the low-voltage DALI bus and to the power supply and control input of the luminaire it manages. They are essential for creating flexible and intelligent lighting installations in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
