Dënohem
Dënohem is an Albanian verb form meaning “to be punished” or, more simply, “I am punished.” It is the present tense, passive/reflexive form of the verb dënoj, which means “to punish.” In Albanian, the passive and reflexive voice is used to describe a state in which the subject receives punishment rather than inflicting it.
Conjugation (present tense, passive/reflexive):
- ti dënohesh (you are punished)
- ai/ajo dënohet (he/she is punished)
- ne dënohemi (we are punished)
- ju dënoheni (you all are punished)
- ata/ato dënohen (they are punished)
The form dënohem is used when the subject is the recipient of punishment. In legal or disciplinary
- Njerëzit e pafajshëm nuk duhet të dënohen. (Innocent people should not be punished.)
- Më dënohet me një gjobë. (I am punished with a fine.)
The noun dënim means punishment or penalty, and dënoj is the active counterpart meaning “to punish.”
