Cíclidos
Cíclidos are a diverse family of freshwater fish, Cichlidae, native to Africa, Asia, and the Americas. They are known for their wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, as well as their complex behaviors, particularly in their parental care. Many cíclidos exhibit mouthbrooding, where one or both parents carry eggs or young fry in their mouths for protection. This family includes some of the most popular aquarium fish, such as angelfish, discus, and oscars. They are found in a vast range of aquatic environments, from fast-flowing rivers to calm lakes, and even brackish water in some species. Cíclidos play important ecological roles in their native habitats, acting as both predators and prey. Their adaptability and striking appearances have contributed to their widespread success in both natural ecosystems and as ornamental fish worldwide.
