CrowdJustice

CrowdJustice was a crowdfunding platform focused on legal cases. It enabled individuals, charities, and organizations to raise funds for legal challenges that might otherwise be unaffordable. The platform allowed users to share details of their case, including the legal issue, the amount of funding needed, and how the money would be used. Supporters could then contribute financially to cases they believed in, becoming part of the effort to achieve a specific legal outcome.

The concept behind CrowdJustice was to democratize access to justice by leveraging the power of collective funding. It aimed to assist those who lacked the financial resources to pursue or defend themselves in court, covering expenses such as legal fees, court costs, and expert witness fees. Cases featured on the platform spanned a wide range of areas, including human rights, environmental law, public interest litigation, and personal injury claims.

CrowdJustice operated on a "crowdfunding" model, meaning that funds were only released to the case organizer if the full funding target was met. If the target was not reached, any money pledged by supporters was returned. This approach provided a degree of security for both funders and those seeking funds. The platform aimed to increase transparency in the legal system by making otherwise private legal battles public and inviting public support. It was founded by Alex and Jules Langford and launched in 2015. The platform ceased operations in 2020.
