Creneler

Creneler is a term used in architecture and fortification to describe the alternating upright blocks and gaps along the top of a wall or parapet. These features are collectively known as battlements or merlons and crenels, respectively. The upright blocks, called merlons, were designed to provide cover for defenders, while the gaps, called crenels, allowed them to shoot arrows or other projectiles at attackers. Crenellations are a prominent feature of medieval castles and defensive structures, serving both a practical defensive purpose and a symbolic representation of power and military strength.
